This motor has been remanufactured to the original specifications using ONLY the highest quality OEM parts available.  We remanufactured this motor “to order” immediately before shipping.  It was then tested using the manufacture’s computer program for 4+ hours and read PASS/OK on all 34 tests.  

 

For some reason if the item is not working for you – please make sure to review entire manual.  If you are still having problems, we have a dedicated technical support staff available to help you get the motor running.  We will run you though the steps listed in the manual.

Replacing the ECM Control Module (X13 Only)

 

Before replacing the electronic-control module, you must test the motor module to ensure it

is not also damaged. Installing a new control on a failed motor will result in no operation,

improper operation and/or potential failure of the new control. Procedures for testing the

motor module is included below.

Disconnect AC power from the HVAC system.

Carefully notate which wires you removed and

where they were attached to.

 

 

 

ONLY after the system AC power has been off for 5 minutes,

remove the two (2) hex-head screws from the back of the control.

Unplug the 3-pin connector from the inside of the control by

squeezing the latch and gently pulling on the connector

you’re ready to test the motor. (See Figure to Right)

MOTOR MODULE TESTS

 

A. The Winding Test

Set ohm meter to the highest possible setting and measure

resistance between each of the three motor leads to the

unpainted part of the end shield (or x-brace on model Eon &

3.0).

 

The motor passes the test if the meter indicates greater

than 100k ohms. (See Figure to Right)

B. The Phase-to-Phase Test

(see Figure 6 below)

Set ohm meter to lowest possible setting and measure the 

motor phase to phase resistance by checking these

combinations of the 3-pin motor connector with an

ohm meter: (See Figure to Right)

 

Lead 1 to lead 2

Lead 1 to lead 3

Lead 2 to lead 3

 

For the purpose of this test, either end of the

3-pin plug is lead 1. Resistance values should

be less than 20 ohms and each of the three

values should be the same (plus or minus

10%). If the measured resistance is outside of

these parameters, the motor fails the test.

1/3 HP Approximately 22.7 Ohm

1/2 HP Approximately 13.5 Ohm

3/4 HP Approximately 7.8 Ohm

1 HP    Approximately 5.8 Ohm

C. If the motor passes both of these tests and the shaft spins freely when rotated by hand,

then the motor is ok and only the module must be replaced.

 

D. If the motor fails either of these tests or does not spin freely when rotated by hand,

replace the motor and control module (CALL US AT 813-440-8108 to order a motor). Insert the 3-pin connector back into the new control module. A slight click will be heard when inserted properly. This connector is keyed for proper connection.

 

Attach the new control module with the plug connections oriented down insert the appropriate bolts and tighten. Due to model replacements, some motors may need to be rotated in their mount to orient the plug connectors properly.

Reconnect AC power from the HVAC system.

Carefully replace wires you removed to where you notated

they were attached to.

 

The connectors are keyed.

 

 

Observe proper orientation.

Be certain to form a drip loop so that water

cannot enter the motor by draining down the

cables (See Figure to Right)

Plug-In transient, surge, lightning, & spike protection for X-13 and Evergreen Type ECM Motors. To use, simply plug X13PR into motor, then plug motor’s harness into the X13PR… (Full instructions with photos in package.)

This unit works with either 120v or 240v GE X-13 ECM motors.

  1. Turn off Breaker
  2. Remove Module from Motor
  3. Identify 3 Wires from Motor to Module
  4. Cut Red & Black Wires (Switch them)
  5. Use Butt Splices to Reattach Reversed

What is the scope of warranty?

All UHVACM standard motors are warranted against defects in UHVACM workmanship and materials.

 

What is the warranty period?

STANDARD ONE YEAR WARRANTY: United HVAC Motors LLC warrants this product to be free from defects in workmanship and materials, under normal residential use and conditions, for a period of one (1) year from the original invoice date.

 The manufacturer agrees, at its option during the warranty period, to repair any defect in material or workmanship or to furnish a repaired or refurbished product of equal value in exchange without charge (except for a fee for shipping, handling, packing, return postage, and insurance which will be incurred by the customer). Such repair or replacement is subject to verification of the defect or malfunction and proof of purchase as confirmed by showing the model number on original dated sales receipt.

 

What is the procedure to receive warranty service?

Customers should first call 813-440-8108 to receive technical support. If technical support cannot solve your problem, you will be required to visit unitedhvacmotors.com/warranty-information to start a claim.

 If UHVACM chooses to send you a product immediately, you will still be required to send the malfunctioning product back to us for diagnosis.  

What is a repair or replacement within the scope of the warranty?

If a UHVACM product is defective due to UHVACM workmanship or materials and the defect occurs during the warranty period, then UHVACM will either repair the product or replace it with a remanufactured one, whichever UHVACM believes to be appropriate under the circumstances. UHVACM is not responsible for removal and shipping of the UHVACM product to the service center, the reinstallation of the UHVACM product upon its return to the customer, or any incidental or consequential damages resulting from the defect, removal, reinstallation, shipment or otherwise.

 

What if I have a repair outside the scope of the warranty?

Problems with UHVACM products can be due to improper maintenance, faulty installation, non-UHVACM additions or modifications, or other problems not due to defects in UHVACM workmanship or materials. If the UHVACM Authorized Service Center determines that the problem with a UHVACM product is not due to defects in UHVACM workmanship or materials, then the customer will be responsible for the cost of any necessary repairs.

 

What is the intended use of the warranty?

UHVACM products are designed for residential, industrial, and commercial use.

Are there other warranties and liability limitations?

NO OTHER WARRANTIES AND LIABILITY LIMITATIONS

This Limited Warranty and Service Policy represents UHVACM’s sole and exclusive warranty obligation with respect to UHVACM products. UHVACM’s liability to a customer or any other person shall not exceed the UHVACM’s sales price of the applicable UHVACM product.
